CHG Emissions per Powertrain Type

Can #BEV, #HEV, #electricandhybridvehicles reduce gas emissions in the transportation sector across #US when compared to traditional #ICE vehicles?

New study published by the University of Michigan shows transportation is responsible for 29% of US emissions, from which 58% comes from light duty vehicles (sedans, station wagons, SUVs, trucks, pickups, van).

Considering each county, regional variation, temperature, drive cycles, energy source mix, and charging time for these vehicles, #electricvehicles emissions are lower than #hybridvehicles in 95-96% of all counties, and lower than traditional ICE vehicles in 98-99% counties across the country. It means a reduction of up to:
–> 74 tonnes of CO2 over the lifetime of each Pickup Truck vehicle
–> 56 tonnes of CO2 over the lifetime of each SUV vehicle.
–> 45 tonnes of CO2 over the lifetime of each sedan vehicle.
